Independence Community College Department of Theatre Arts and the School of the Fine Arts will present a production of "Quilters," the Tony-nominated musical by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashek, March 17, 18, 19 @ 7:30 PM in the William Inge Theatre.

“Quilters will be a visually exciting show,” said director Jon Sidoli, Department of Theatre Arts faculty member. “Everyone can enjoy this musical. The show is like a quilt that has come alive, pieced together to tell the story of women’s lives.”

“Quilters” is the story of pioneer women and their lives while the West was being settled. Colorful quilt blocks with traditional patterns represent each scene in the story of “Quilters” and the unique lives of these women.

:Through dance and song the challenges, strengths, tragedies, and triumphs of these women are sure to fill our hearts and open our minds”, said Sidoli.

The cast of “Quilters” includes accomplished local musical performers, Lisa Mitchell, Danee Mills and Andrea Griggs, as well as ICC theatre students Meagan Becker, Jinger Ferguson, Brienne Cunningham, and Danelle Smith. All of these women will play approximately 15 roles, portraying the lives of pioneer women from birth to adult hood.

The Musical Director of Quilters is ICC Vocal Music Professor Christopher Langsford and the production is designed by ICC Technical Theatre Professor Mark Spitzer

“The music is very upbeat, it has a Celtic-country-bluegrass inspired sound with beautiful harmonies.”,  said Langsford.

Neewollah's Musical Follies 2005  will be held at the William Inge Theater October 20 - 23rd.
